Maia Bachman
Maia Bachman MSW, LSWAIC
(they/them)
Maia (they/them) is a neurodivergent, disabled and queer clinician, who completed their Clinical Social Work program at Seattle University. Maia strives to bring authentic care and collaboration to the therapeutic space, centering the desires, goals and inner wisdom of each client.
Maia previously worked in the eating disorder treatment field, and completed their clinical hours as an oncology social worker for Swedish Cancer Institute. Alongside working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients, they are passionate about providing weight-inclusive care, and supporting clients who are disabled and chronically ill.
Overall, Maia utilizes a trauma-informed, person-centered approach, harnessing concepts from narrative therapy and parts work. They collaborate with clients in hopes of uncovering nuanced understandings of identity, mental health, and the inner values that guide us.
Maia has a calm, slow-paced approach in session, valuing the use of humor to connect. One of their favorite aspects of therapy is discussing other people's interests, from books, movies and art, to history, science and sociological theory. Through this, they hope to foster a low-pressure space to explore all facets of identity, weaving moments of lightness into conversations about difficult emotions.
In their free time, Maia loves thrifting, weightlifting, drawing cartoons while watching reality TV, and going hiking with their 2 year old Jack Russell.
