Mar Rodriguez
Mar Rodriguez MSW, LICSW
(they/them)
Mar identifies as a Queer, AudHD, and Latine and is a graduate of the Clinical Social Work program at the University of Washington. Mar specializes in working at the intersections of Queer/Trans and Neurodivergent communities and serves a range of demographics including children (6+), adolescents, adults, parents/caregivers, and couples/polycules.
Mar is a relational therapist who believes that building a secure attachment in the therapeutic relationship is essential for clients to feel heard, understood, and safe-enough to explore their most vulnerable experiences. Mar views the therapeutic space as a place for clients to practice relational healing before transferring those skills back to their communities.
Mar practices from a person-centered, anti-oppressive lens, using trauma-informed practices alongside somatic, polyvagal, and parts-work informed techniques to support clients in the following areas: PDA (pervasive drive for autonomy), child-led play therapy, parent and caregiver support, Complex-PTSD, LGBTQIA+ gender and sexuality exploration, late diagnosed/undiagnosed neurodivergence, Autistic burnout, ethical nonmonogamy, mixed-neurotype families, chronic illness, immigration experiences and acculturation trauma, and traumatic grief and loss.
Mar has a collaborative therapy style infused with humor, validation, gentle reality checks. They affectionately refer to themself as a “silly goose." Outside of therapy you’ll catch them reading/listening to books, knitting primarily socks, doing puzzles, forgetting to water their plants, and cuddling with their pets.
